In a time when it is easy to feel despondent and fearful, I find it comforting to remember a lesson my mother taught me. No matter the crisis, she remained calm, and calmly went about doing what she felt needed to be done.
Her calmness gave me comfort and confidence that all would be well, despite the current upheaval. I was reminded of her recently while reading David Spangler’s Views from the Borderland. He admonishes us not to underestimate the simple act of remaining calm, as calmness radiates a force that helps dissipate the turbulent energies of anxiety and fear. The following distant healing prayer, given to me during meditation early in my practice of Reiki, brings me to a place of calm and reminds me to do what is mine to do. It is most powerful when prayed daily.
Prayer for the Planet
If you have Reiki training, activate the protocol for sending distant Reiki. Invoke any deities and beings you wish to connect with, asking for their assistance. If you do not have Reiki training, proceed as you would when you pray.
I ask for the healing of Mother Earth herself and everything that is in, of, and on Mother Earth. I ask for the healing of every drop of water, every grain of sand, every molecule of earth, every molecule of air, every rock, everything that grows, everything that inhabits the waters, everything that flies, everything that crawls, everything that walks on four legs, every human being.
I ask for the healing of all suffering, all conflict, all hatred, all anger, all fear, all greed, all worry, all false beliefs, all limiting ideas. I ask that Divine Love permeate all, radiate from all, be all, so that there is nothing but Love in every thought, in every word, in every deed.
I ask for the healing of all that needs to be healed in me, whether that be physical, mental, emotional, or spiritual. I go forth this day as a healing presence, as Divine Love in every thought, in every word, in every deed. I radiate Divine Love to all with whom I come in contact and to all the world.
And so it is, and so I let it be. Thank you (God, Spirit, etc.)
